Bird Blind at Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt

Today, my daughter and I set out with hopes of spotting some birds. After considering a few options, we decided to try the bird blind at Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt, a quiet spot just northeast of Des Moines, IA—about a 45-minute drive from our home.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a blanket of snow on the ground and, to our surprise, no birds in sight. Undeterred, we set up in the blind, and within just a couple of minutes, groups of birds began to appear, landing on the feeders. It was our first time taking photos from a bird blind, and we both had a great time watching the flurry of activity and getting a closer look at many different kinds of birds.

Though we only had a short time today due to other commitments, we left feeling excited about our experience and can’t wait to return for more.
